Museum of Minerals in San Giovanni in the Aurina Valley

The probably most important museum of Minerals in the Eastern Alps hosts the findings of a passionate collector who collected the minerals for decades.

More than 950 single exhibits from the area of the Zillertal Alps and the Hohe Tauern Mountain range, which developed deep inside our earth approximately 30 million years ago, are on show over an area of more than 300m².

Amongst the exhibits: Mountain crystals being the "ideal" of a crystal, whose clarity reminds you of the eternal ice from the highest mountain peaks, feldspars, rutiles, violet amethysts, fluorites, sparkling apatites, emeralds and titanites, which impress with their deep green colour.

Besides the biggest cairngorms in South Tyrol, the "twisted alpine crystal" from the Predoi Mines is one of the main attractions.
